All chemicals have special characteristics and present hazards to humans and the environment. Chemicals pose a specific threat to you through inhalation, ingestion or absorption. On completion of this session you will know how to correctly read chemical labelling, identify the different types of hazards from the pictograms and signal words displayed on labels. The nature of driving for work involves specific risks, including: the vehicles driven and the amount of time spent behind the wheel. The greater the time spent behind the wheel, the greater the exposure to risks associated with driving for work. On completion of this session you should be aware of the rules you should observe when driving for work, you should have a better understanding of the necessary vehicle pre-checks that need to be taken before you start your journey and you will learn about journey planning. This session is aimed at any employer with employees who drive vehicles, or ride on a motorcycle or bicycle for work, as well as self-employed people. Thanks to ergonomics we can both identify and minimise risks that can cause problems over time. Upon completion of this session you will have a better understanding of the correct working posture, know how to assess your workstation and understand the control measures which should be implemented in order to reduce hazards and risks. Once a fire has started in the workplace and has been identified, it is important that it is prevented from spreading further and contained in the area it was started. In this session you will learn about your role in fire containment, the correct fire extinguishers to use and how to use the PASS system. You will also look at fire evacuation and what you should do to ensure a safe and swift exit in the event of a fire evacuation procedure. Read more
